Planning for Mixed Nationals in 2014 is starting now. This year the event will be held in Townsville at the end of October. FEAR is planning to send a team to this tournament, if you are interested then contact the Exec NOW.
Your current skill level is not as important as your commitment to train and play with the rest of the team. You must be willing to commit to team skills training on Sundays, fitness training twice a week, and playing on Monday pickup and/or Wednesday league.
The team will compete together at the Wednesday league, as well as entering the qualifying tournament Phoenix in September and some other local tournaments over the next 6 months.
Please register your interest ASAP with anyone on the FEAR committee – bakes, Ken, Gareth, Sue. We would like to get a pretty good idea of interested players by Sunday 6th April. Depending on the number of players registering interest we’ll look to see if a selection process will be necessary.
Keep in mind that this is just a preliminary show of interest, not a final committment.
PLUS: FEAR also seeks expressions of interest from anyone (not necessarily a player) to take on the role of Team Manager. The Team Manager will ensure that the team is properly registered and fees paid, manage the supply of uniforms to players, co-ordinate accommodation and transport and ensure that there is always good communication of administrative requirements to the team. It’s not a demanding position, there is not a huge amount of work, however you must be well organised and responsive. Contact the Exec if you are interested.
